Privacy Policy
The short version
Our file-scanning software runs entirely on your own computer. Your file names, folder paths, reports and logs are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. The only time the software goes online is to check its license, and the only personal information we hold about a customer is the email address used to buy it.
1. Who we are
SRQ Computer Services, Arlington, Virginia, United States, is the data controller for the information described here. Contact info@SRQComputerServices.com with any question or request about your data.
2. What the software does on your computer
When you scan a folder or share, the software reads file and folder names, sizes, timestamps and permissions, and writes a report and a log to a location you choose. When you fix items, it renames files and folders and adjusts timestamps, and records every change in an undo journal on your machine.
All of that happens locally. None of it is transmitted anywhere. We have no ability to see what you scanned, what was found, or what you fixed.
3. What the software sends when you activate a license
Licensing is handled by Keygen, our licensing provider. When you activate, renew an offline license file, or check your license, the software sends Keygen:
- your license key;
- an anonymous machine ID — a one-way hash of your operating system’s machine identifier, which cannot be reversed back into the original value;
- the computer’s name;
- the operating system name and version.
This exists so a license can be tied to a number of computers and moved between them. It does not include your files, your file names, your network details or your location.
4. What we collect when you buy
Purchases are processed by Paddle, who act as the merchant of record. You enter your payment details with Paddle, not with us. Card and bank details never reach SRQ Computer Services and we could not retrieve them if we wanted to.
After a purchase completes, our licensing service receives your email address and the transaction reference from Paddle. It creates your license in Keygen, stores the email address against that license so we can identify you if you need support or a replacement key, and sends the key to you by email through Resend, our email provider. Licence emails come from licenses@srqcomputerservices.com; replies go to info@SRQComputerServices.com.
Paddle also holds the billing information you gave them, including your name, billing address and tax details, under their own privacy notice.
5. This website
This site is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and no advertising or tracking scripts, and has no login.
Two exceptions are worth naming plainly:
- Our host, Cloudflare, processes the usual server request information — IP address, the page requested, timestamp, browser user agent — to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
- The product page loads Paddle’s checkout script so the Buy buttons can open a checkout. That script is loaded from Paddle and is subject to their privacy notice. It loads on that one page only.
6. Who processes data for us
- Paddle — payments, billing and tax, as merchant of record.
- Keygen — license issuing and activation.
- Resend — sending license key emails.
- Cloudflare — website hosting, downloads and the licensing service.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
7. How long we keep things
We keep your email address and license record for as long as the license exists, and afterwards for as long as we need it for tax and accounting purposes. Support emails are kept while they are useful for supporting you. Activation records are kept for the life of the license.
8. Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@SRQComputerServices.com and we will respond within thirty days.
Deleting your license record will deactivate the license, so we will confirm with you before doing it. Some records must be kept to meet tax obligations even after a deletion request.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — for example under the GDPR in the UK and EU, or the CCPA in California — including the right to object to processing, to request a portable copy of your data, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
This software is a business tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen.
10. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our providers process data in the United States and elsewhere. If you are outside the US, buying from us means your email address and license record are handled there.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above changes with it. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will say so on this page.
